Montgomery Area Emergency Medical Service

Overview

The Montgomery Area Emergency Medical Service (Ambulance Department) was established in October 1970 to provide basic life support transportation to the greater Montgomery area.

The Ambulance Service meets the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.

01 Ash Avenue SW, Montgomery, MN.

Emergency Medical Technicians

EMTs are trained patient attendants. They have completed a minimum of 112 hours of classroom and 16 hours of hospital clinical observation. In addition, they must pass the Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board Practical Skills Exam and the National Registry Written Exam.

Also they must complete a 28-hour EMT Refresher course every two years along with annual BLS variance training.

Emergency Medical Responders

These individuals are designated drivers and trained to the First Responder level. They are required to complete a 48-hour initial course along with an emergency vehicle operations course.   In addition, they must complete a 16-hour First Responder Refresher course every two years along with annual behind the wheel emergency vehicle operations.
