The City of Montgomery and the Montgomery Economic Development Authority provide assistance to businesses through an array of grants and loan programs and can assist business in accessing numerous regional, state, and federal programs. The following links can provide information about these programs as well as other data about the local, regional, and state economy. 

BusinessUSA

BusinessUSA is a centralized, one-stop platform to make it easier than ever for businesses to access services to help them grow and hire and create a product of collective thoughts and inputs from the federal agencies who have pledged their commitment to making this site a one-stop shop for everything related to business in the USA.

Department of Employment & Economic Development (DEED)

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is the state’s principal economic development agency.  DEED programs promote business recruitment, expansion, and retention; international trade; workforce development; and community development.  Find info on state loan and tax credit programs to help MN businesses.

Enterprise Minnesota

Five years ago Enterprise Minnesota advocated for and secured the Growth Acceleration Program (GAP), a state matching investment that enables small and medium sized manufacturing companies to access business improvement services. These direct investments lead to job creation, job retention and future business growth, and fuel Enterprise Minnesota's mantra of "helping manufacturing enterprises grow profitably."

Greater MSP

GREATER MSP is a private non-profit organization dedicated to providing public and private sector leadership, coordination and engagement to grow the economy of the 16-County Minneapolis Saint Paul region. With its economic development partners from throughout the region, GREATER MSP is advancing a coordinated regional economic development strategy, a coordinated regional brand to promote the region’s assets, and a coordinated regional business retention, expansion, and recruitment program to stimulate capital investment and job creation in the region.

Minnesota Angel Credit Program

The Company Development Program prepares knowledge-based companies and technologies for commercial success by Conducting preliminary analyses of their business plan and investor proposition, Preparing entrepreneurs for the rigors of funding acquisition from multiple sources and Introducing new ideas to our network of funders and other business partners.

Minnesota WorkForce Center - Mankato

WorkForce Centers help job seekers find employment, help businesses find workers, and help anyone at any stage explore and plan careers.

This center is one in a system of nearly 50 WorkForce Centers statewide. Each offers a knowledgeable staff to guide you. Each provides essential tools to make your job search a success. Most services are free of charge.

Region Nine Development Commission

Region Nine is to serve local units of government and other organizations in the nine (9) county region as they strive to create more stable and viable communities.  The services offered by this team varies greatly from helping to access grant funds for community housing programs, to helping counties negotiate the hazard mitigation planning process, to working with business groups to create environments in which businesses can thrive and expand.

Small Business Administration (Minnesota Office)

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is an independent agency of the federal government that aids, counsels, assists, and protects the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.

South Central Minnesota Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

The South Central Minnesota Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is part of the Minnesota network of regional centers, staffed by committed professionals.  We are funded by the US Small Business Administration and regional funding partners, allowing us to provide our professional services at no cost.  The SBDC develops and maintains partnerships around community and regional organizations and local, state, and federal agencies, providing access to a broad network of public and private resources that individuals can tap.  SBDCs provide the expertise and guidance that every small business owner needs to flourish in today's competitive economy like services for existing businesses and start-ups, training workshops and seminars, tailored to meet the needs of the business community, and professional, confidential consulting.  The consultants provide relevant and realistic advice.  While the SBDC does not administer loan or grant programs, they can help businesses assess and identify funding options and opportunities, and prepare documentation that lenders require.

Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE - Minnesota Chapter)

Minnesota District of SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” is part of a national nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of the nation’s small business.  SCORE provides free and confidential business counseling, workshops on a number of business topics and more including free business plan templates.  On the SCORE website you can also find info on local business workshops, online workshops, mentorship programs, and other business tools & resources.

Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation
