Parks & Recreation

Montgomery Parks and Recreation offers a wonderful network of sidewalks and trails along with beautiful facilities and recreational opportunities within our City Parks.

The City of Montgomery currently contains approximately 80 acres of park lands and when combined with athletic facilities of the local school district it increases to 123 acres of park and recreational areas within the City.  A majority of the park lands maintained by the City of Montgomery are found within five (5) parks conveniently located throughout the community. The parks are maintained by the Public Works Department.

Amenities include ball fields, basketball courts, a band shell, horseshoe pits, ice rink, picnic shelters, playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, and tennis courts. The City of Montgomery offers the trails that are designed to ensure that citizens are able to walk and bicycle throughout the community. Learn more about the different parks and their amenities by viewing the Montgomery Parks & Recreation Matrix.

The Montgomery Park and Recreation Board reviews current and future community park and recreation needs, programs and facilities and recommends policies and improvements to promote the implementation of the City’s parks, trails, and recreational plans. Parks, recreation and open spaces can shape the physical environment of a community in a way that enhances neighborhoods. They represent an important building block for a neighborhood and provide an opportunity to protect and conserve a community’s natural resources. The residents and businesses of Montgomery have identified parks, trails, and recreational facilities as a valuable community asset that allows everyone a chance to play or discover their individual talents, no matter what age, interest, physical ability, or desire that contributes positively to the quality of life offered in Montgomery.
