Request a Police Report

The Records Unit is responsible for the accurate processing, storage, and appropriate dissemination of police report information in a timely and courteous manner.

Members of the public who wish to obtain public copies of accident and other police reports that were constructed by the Montgomery Police Department can obtain them from the Montgomery Police Department Records Staff.  Access to incident reports depends upon the classification of the data and are processed according to the Government Data Practices Act.  To obtain a copy, you can complete the following form:

The cost for copies of police reports is $0.25 per page. Questions regarding costs, directions, and other issues should be directed to the Records Unit at 507-364-8000

To obtain a copy of a State Accident Report, you can contact the MN Department of Public Safety, Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS), 445 Minnesota Street, Saint Paul MN 55101. Phone number 651.296.2940.  Reports may be obtained in person or by mail. The request form may be found at:

Drivers License or Criminal History Records

If you need a copy of your drivers license record, you must go to a Department of Motor Vehicle Driver’s License Exam Station.

If you need a copy of your Criminal History, you must go the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.  Instructions can be found here BCA Website.
