The Take it to the Box program promotes the safe use, safe storage, and safe disposal of unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medications.
A Drug Disposal Box is available at no cost Monday – Friday:
At the Montgomery Police Department from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m

How to Dispose of Medications
Leave Medication in the original container
Remove your name and personal information
Keep the name of medication on the container
Take Medications to a drop box
Safe Disposal
No hazardous waste, business waste
No syringes, needles, or sharps accepted
No thermometers, trash, batteries
Sharps Disposal
Collect needles/sharps in a hard sided container with a closure and take them to any of the following:
- Le Sueur County Public Health, 88 S Park Ave, Le Center, MN 56057
- Herrmann Thrifty White, 201 S 1st St, Montgomery, MN 56069
Some examples of appropriate containers would be:
Coffee Can with Lid
Laundry Detergent Bottle with a Screw on Top
Milk Jug with a Cap
Store Bought Sharps Disposal Container
