Overview

The Park and Recreation Advisory Board advises the City Council and staff on a variety of matters pertaining to the parks system and all public recreational facilities in the City of Montgomery. The Board reviews development proposals for park dedication requirements when required, reviews recreational programs and activities and determines long-range planning objectives for parks, natural areas and trails, as well as detailed plans for park development and use and recreational facilities. The Board also proposes rules and regulations for use and maintenance of these public facilities, work in cooperation with the School District for joint use of the park system as a matter of economy and convenience, and assists in the development of the budget for the parks department

Information About Members

The Park and Recreation Board is comprised of five (5) regular members who are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council and two (2) ex offico members. Each member serves a three (3) year term. The mayor recommends applicants to the City Council based on their interest in creating a vision for the development of parks, trails, and recreational facilities in the City of Montgomery, along with willingness to serve and background. There is no term limit. Members do not receive monetary compensation.

The ex offico members include one (1) member of the City Council who is selected by Mayor and approved by the City Council and the City Administrator. Council Member Dennis Lambrecht, and the City Clerk-Treasurer, Patti Soukup (selected by the City Administrator to represent him at the meetings) currently fulfilled these roles.
